Chapter 3: Picture Time
Introduction
"Picture Time" opens Unit 2, Life Around Us. It invites children to look closely at animals and birds, count with number rhymes, and notice rhyming words. It builds speaking confidence through picture questions and adds early reading with sight words.
What's in this Chapter
Let us speak – Picture Time. A large picture of animals and birds comes with questions:
Song – Fun with Numbers.
One, two, / three, four, five, / Once I caught / a fish alive. / Six, seven, / eight, nine, ten, / Then I let it / go again.
Children then talk about fish. Have you seen a fish? Where? What was its colour?
Let us draw. Join the letters in alphabetical order to complete a picture, then colour it.
Song – Five Little Monkeys.
Five little monkeys / jumping on a tree, / One fell down / and bumped his knee. / Ah! Ah! Ah!
The count goes down (four, three, two, one) until "Now, no more monkeys / jumping on a tree, / Each of them / is holding his knee!"
Let us do.
