Chapter 2: Picture Reading
Introduction
Picture Reading is Chapter 2 of Unit 1, Fun with Friends, in Mridang. It begins with a big picture of children playing, which learners look at and talk about. Then comes the story "OUT! OUT!" about two friends, Jeet and Babli, who lose their ball and make a new one from things lying around. The chapter shows that we can have fun with simple things and a little cleverness.
What's in this Chapter
Picture talk. Children look at the picture and answer: What do you see? How many children are there? What are they doing? How are they having fun? What games do you play? The teacher's note says children may answer in their home language, and the teacher helps them find the English words.
The story "OUT! OUT!"
Sight words: this, a, how, also, they, after, and, of.
New words: skipped, threw, courtyard, gathered, brought, picked.
